Two months late and $34,000 short (oral surgery ain't
cheap), yours truly has dusted off the year's top tunes.
From surprise comebacks (Rik Emmett in Airtime) to letdowns
(Michael Schenker scraps another tour), the year dazzled and
disappointed — sometimes at the same time (Schenker
reportedly on the mend ... again!) Of course, taste is
subjective. One man's fine fromage is another's Velveeta.
But one thing's for sure: with Scorpions, Rush and other war
horses finding new life, the new kids have some big shoes to
fill. Herewith my annual rundown:
