Rating: B

The second offering from super group Velvet Revolver picks up where the debut left off. The new release actually surpasses the first in many ways. While there is no "Slither" there are several well crafted tracks. The lack of an obvious hit single may hurt the album but as a whole this release harkens back to the days when fans looked for an entire collection of tunes instead of one or two tracks to download.

"Get Out the Door," "Let It Roll," "She Builds Quick Machines" and "American Man" all have what is becoming the VR trademark sound. "Pills, Demon, Etc" will remind one of Slash's Snakepit while "Gravedancer" features an emotional lyric mixed with GNR style Slash lead guitar. Be sure to keep the track playing to discover the hidden Country tune!

The Enhanced version features behind the scenes footage. This is a band heading in the right direction. If they can keep away from their addictions and keep pushing their creative limits then VR III should see the music taken to new heights. This is not a 'must own' but it has elements that will excite the classic rock fan.
