Rating: A
This is the easiest
review I have ever written. Twenty four of Led Zep's finest
tunes, a DVD of twenty songs and awesome liner notes and
packaging makes my job easy. Everything about
Mothership is
right.
Rhino and Jimmy Page
did an excellent job picking out the
best of the best
the band ever did. For starters, the
selection of classic tunes spans there entire career and
includes " Good Times Bad Times," "Communication Breakdown,"
"Dazed and Confused," "Stairway to Heaven," "Blackdog," Whole
Lotta Love," "Heartbreaker," "Rock and Roll," "Immigrant Song,"
"Over the Hills and Far Away," "D'yer Maker," "Trampled Under
Foot," "Kashmir," "Ramble On," "In the Evening" and "All of My
Love."
In addition the listener
is treated to fan favorites "The Song Remains the Same," "No
Quarter," "Achilles Last Stand," "Nobody's Fault but Mine,"
"Since I've Been Loving You," "Babe, I'm Gonna Leave You" and
"Houses of the Holy."
The DVD includes
twenty songs from the classic Led
Zep DVD. Seventeen tracks are
shown in their entirety while "Dazed and Confused," "Moby Dick"
and "White Summer" are only partial versions. The full length
versions are a mixture of album cuts and classics including
"We're Gonna Groove," "What Is and What Should Never Be," "Bring
It On Home," "Black Dog," "Misty Mountain Hop," "The Ocean,"
"Going to California" and "Whole Lotta Love."
The bottom line here is a
classy collection for those who don't already own the box set
and the DVD. This would make a great present for any younger
music fans you know who need to be introduced to the greatest
rock band of all time.
