Styx - Caught in the Act
A&M
Rating: C
Released during the
height of inner band conflict,
Caught in the Act shows the band
during the Kilroy Was Here
tour. You would never know bad blood was
brewing during the concert, though, as the band play a solid,
albeit, predictable set.
Dennis DeYoung is
the star of this show as witnessed by the mini-film that opened
the concert. According to VH1
Behind the Music this was an
embarrassment but after seeing it after all these years it was
actually very well done. DeYoung could be an actor! The plot
was a bit juvenile but it was fun, entertaining and ahead of
it's time.
The DVD release contains
many Styx videos as well. These prove to be the best part of
the act. While there may be a lot of nostalgia looking back at
the video for "Come Sail Away" it is also a great representation
of the era of music we all love. Other videos include "Borrowed
Time," "Boat on the River," "Babe," "A.D. 1928/Rockin' the
Paradise," "The Best of Times," "Mr. Roboto," "Too Much Time On
My Hands," "Don't Let It End" and the crazy "Music Time."
Pick this one up for
the videos and enjoy the concert!
