Mark Farner – The Rock Patriot
www.markfarner.com

Rating: C

The heart and soul behind Grand Funk Railroad, Mark Farner has taken many paths on his musical journey. He continues to have nothing to do with his former band instead content to blaze his own path, not compromising his musical and personal beliefs for anyone.

The title of the album says it all as Farner loves America and this album shows his dedication to the free spirit this country was formed on. The opening tune "For the People" is the strongest on the CD while "You’re My Girl," "Same Ol’ Feelin’" and "Where Do We Go From Here" harken back to his glory days with GFR.

The album does sound a bit dated as Farner is not trying to keep up with the times, instead choosing to make music on his terms. For the most part this works. One can’t listen to this CD without knowing the man a little better than they did before as he opens his heart and soul, both musically and lyrically.
