The list of songs below are songs that influenced others to pick up guitars and begin making Hard Rock and Heavy Metal music.  It is not a popularity contest and it is not necessarily a list of the best Hard Rock and Metal songs of all time.   It is, however, a compelling look into the songs that shaped the genres and inspired great artists to follow in their footsteps.

We came up with the list by first making a list of 100 song each.  We took the songs, saw which ones we all agreed upon, and ranked them in importance of their individual influence.  Below you will find the end results of our study.  We think it is a pretty damn good list, although, there were plenty of songs we could not believe we left off.
