There are few guitar players, past, present or future that can be mentioned in the same breath as Joe Satriani, especially when it comes to sheer technical ability, raw talent, execution, musical knowledge and creativity. Joe is the total package. He was put on God’s green earth for one reason and one reason only: to play guitar.

In this interview we discuss Joe’s latest instrumental album, Black Swans & Wormhole Wizards. The entire album represents one of the strongest musical statements Joe has made in his career. The songs are more mature than in the past. There is still plenty of shredding but Joe also sculpts the songs to include stricter arrangements, fuller melodies and deeper emotions.

We also discuss Chickenfoot and their upcoming album as well as what it was like to be interviewed by Spinal Tap’s Nigel Tufnel and how he overcomes off days.
