Back in 1994, the former vocalist for Free, Bad
Company and The Firm had a solo band that consisted of
musical luminaries Neal Schon and Jason Bonham. If that
is not enough to convince you to buy this CD and DVD,
which is sold separately, then perhaps knowing that
Queen’s Brian May appears on several songs will help you
decide. Other guests include Toto’s Steve Lukather and
several blues masters. Knowing all of this, you should
now be well on your way to clicking over to Amazon.com
to place your order.
Rodgers is an amazing singer, multi-instrumentalist,
and songwriter on his own, but surrounding him with this
much talent means this is a once in a lifetime
experience. The set list is full of classics including
“Wishing Well,” “Fire and Water,” “Muddy Water Blues,”
“Good Morning Little School Girl,” “Mr. Big,” “Feel Like
Making Love,” “Hunter,” “Can’t Get Enough of Your Love”
and “All Right Now.” Throw in an encore that features
the classic “Crossroads” and a huge blues jam on
“Hootchie Coochie Man” and you have a sterling set of
amazing music. “Hootchie Coochie Man” sees Eddie
Kirkland, Brian May, Luther Allison, Robert Lucas, Kenny
Neal and Sherman Robertson all take the stage with
Paul’s band resulting in something that must be heard to
be properly appreciated.
While the CD is great, and will find its way into
your player again and again, the big winner here is the
DVD, as witnessing this event just kicks the whole thing
into another dimension. This one is a winner from start
to finish.
