In the midst of their farewell tour, German hard rock
powerhouse the Scorpions have found time to enter the
studio and release a new CD titled, Comeblack.
The album is not to be taken too seriously, as it
contains a mix of classic Scorpions tunes and a handful
of 1960’s classics given the Scorp’s unique sting.
The album is pretty much new product for the record
company to release during the farewell tour and, as
such, is not the best thing the band has ever done. That
said, it is still an album filled with rocking tunes
including the bands’ classics “Rhythm of Love,” “No One
Like You,” “The Zoo,” “Blackout,” “Wind of Change” and
“Still Loving You.”
The remakes, all from the 1960’, even though most
people will relate “Tainted Love” to Soft Cell from the
New Wave days of the ‘80’s, also includes “Children of
the Revolution” from T. Rex, which is a cool ass song
that makes the album step up one notch. The Small Faces
are represented by “Tin Solider” while the Beatles and
Stones are covered with “Across the Universe” and “Ruby
Tuesday.”
While this is not going to sell platinum, gold, or
even tin for that matter, it is welcome in the bands’
vast and diverse catalog.
