This is one of the easiest reviews I have ever
written. We are talking about Aqualung, one of
the most important rock albums of all time. It sounds
better than ever and includes a bonus disk of additional
1970 and 1971 recordings featuring songs that didn’t
make the album, or different versions of ones that did
including “Wond’ring Aloud” and “My God.” There is also
a classic Tull song that is not on the album in “Life’s
a Long Song.” The liner notes are awesome and feature an
interview with Ian Anderson and there are plenty of
pictures and stuff to make the package, itself,
wonderful.
Aqualung was the album that brought Tull to the
big time. The band was no longer trying to figure out
how they could make their brand of music fit in with the
current music scene. With “Aqualung” and “Locomotive
Breath” they were there. While these two songs went on
to become staples in the band’s live set, and FM radio
classics, the album features many other great songs
including “Hymm 43,” “Mother Goose” and “Cross Eyed
Mary.”
The bonus disc alone makes this one worth picking up.
