Black Country Communion may just be the Great Last
Hope for Classic Hard Rock. This is an amazing band with
two albums under their belt, both produced by the gifted
Kevin Shirley. The band features ex-Deep Purple and
Trapeze bassist/vocalist Glenn Hughes, drummer Jason
Bonham, guitar wizard Joe Bonamassa and keyboard genius
Derek Sherinian. This is not just a super group because
of the names in the band; this is a super group because
their music is freakishly good.
The double DVD was filmed with 14 high def cameras
and in 5.1 surround sound during BCC’s tour of Europe in
2010. The band has impressed hard rock fans worldwide
with their ability to capture the spirit of Classic Hard
Rock and now, they prove their salt in a live setting.
The DVD includes “Black Country,” “One Last Soul,’ “Man
in the Middle,” “Save me” and Songs of Yesterday.” While
these may be the best of the bunch, there is not one
weak musical moment during the entire DVD. Bonus
features include a great documentary on the making of
the DVD.
This is one of the best bands out there right now and
fans of this type of music need to be snapping up
everything BCC does as we need to get them to the USA
for a full fledged tour. Hughes and Company are on a
mission to prove old rock never dies, it just gets
louder. The musicianship, songwriting, passion and brute
force in this band harkens back to a time when music was
more than a backing track to a commercial.
While Black Country Communion’s second album, titled
simply 2, will be on everyone’s Best of 2011
list, Live Over Europe will join it on the Best
Concert DVD lists for the year.
This is a MUST OWN.
