Bad Company – Live at Wembley
Eagle Vision
www.badcompany.com

Rating: A

Bad Company had not performed in the UK for 31 years with the original lineup before last year’s tour. The band returned home triumphantly with an amazing show that featured drummer Simon Kirke, guitarist Mick Ralphs and vocalist, guitarist and keyboardist Paul Rodgers.

The band was welcomed home like troops returning from a victorious battle. In return, they put 110% effort into their music.

The Wembley date hung over the bands’ heads the entire tour, as it was the final night of the tour. Bad Co would return to the UK and end their trek as the mighty musical force that took the world by storm in the 1970’s.

The DVD set list is stellar as it includes “Burning Sky,” “Shooting Star,” “Movin’ On,” “Rock n Roll Fantasy,” “Simple Man,” “Seagull,” “Bad Company,” “Young Blood,” “Honey Child,” “Runnin’ with the Pack” and more. During “Feel Like Makin’ Love” Rodgers stood smiling ear-to-ear as the crowd was singing his lines so loudly you could hear them easily over the band.

The band played well as Rodgers amazed all with his ability to defy time. His looks, playing skills and voice are all as strong, if not stronger, than they have ever been. Ralphs and Kirke put their all into the show as well. The CD version, sold separately, contains all songs sans “Burnin’ Sky.”

Lynn Sorensen and Howard Leese were added to the band for good measure, adding to the awesome stage presence. Sorensen held down the low end, replacing the deceased Boz Burrell, while Leese brought his guitar prowess from both Rodgers’ solo band and his tenure with Heart to add flavor and flair to many of the songs preformed.

Bad Company may or may not return with the original three again. If they do then they have set the bar high, and if they don’t, then they will go out on top. Whichever time proves to be the path they will tread, Live at Wembley is a testament to the timelessness of their music, as well as the true oneness that can be created when a concert is performed with perfection.

This is a must-own.
