Recorded in a un-air conditioned theater in Chicago for the television show Soundstage, Billy, band and audience are all affected by the intense heat.  Idol, now in his 50’s, is a physical specimen and he sounds okay, vocally.  He seems more subdued now than in his youth, which is to be expected, but seems out of place on songs like “Rebel Yell” and “White Wedding.”  Billy opts to lower his registry instead of straining for the high notes.    

The concert is short as well.  Several songs from his regular tour were axed due to the time restraint of Soundstage, which is a shame.  Still, it is great to see Steve Stevens on stage with Billy cranking out the classics, including “Eyes Without A Face,” “Flesh For Fantasy” and “Dancing With Myself.”
