Rating B:
Brian Johnson is best known as the voice on AC/DC’s
mega albums including Back in Black, For Those About
To Rock…We Salute You and The Razors Edge. He
did the unthinkable in replacing fallen vocalist Bon
Scott. As the voice of the band he has always paid
homage to Bon and still plays many of his classics to
this day. A hard rock icon, Johnson is not a guy to get
goose bumpy when meeting other rock n’ roller royalty as
they simply are not what makes him tick. Let him meet a
legend in the auto industry, however, and he will be as
tongue tied as child standing before Mickey Mouse at
Disneyland.
In his new book, Rockers and Rollers: A
Full-Throttle Memoir, Johnson takes the reader on a
ride through his car collection, one short chapter at a
time. It’s not all wheels and engines though as Brian is
known as a great storyteller with a good sense of humor
and this book is full of both. In-between car stories,
he is able to describe highlights of his life, from
pulling down his pants and learning to wank with a group
of his friends to auditioning for AC/DC.
It is awesome to read the words of a man who has it
all yet remains a guy that would love to belly up to the
bar with you and trade tales over a pint. This one is
for car nuts for sure, but fans of AC/DC will enjoy his
wit and wisdom that he has acquired over the years,
along with his many automobiles.
This is an easy read from one of rock’s easiest going
guys. Put the petal to the metal and give this one a
chance.
