Danny has had many claims to fame including playing
keyboards for UFO, writing a tune for Pink Floyd’s Nick
Mason that was sung by David Gilmour titled “Lie for a
Lie” and playing with the band The Heavy Metal Kids.
Back in 2005, after he had been in the business for over
three decades, Peyronel finally got around to putting
out a solo album. It came and went quickly barley
getting noticed.
Fast forward a few years and the label Angel Air,
dedicated to finding diamonds in the rough, re-released
Make the Monkey Dance. The album sounded dated in
2005 and a few more years don’t really do any more
damage to that. This truly sounds like it could have
been released in the mid 1980’s. It is melodic and
features well-written tunes and a few surprises.
“Lie for a Lie” is the best track on the album and
this version stands up with Mason and Gilmour’s. Meat
Loaf’s “Midnight at the Lost and Found” is a great
remake and an ode to another song that should have been
a much bigger hit the first time around. Danny also pays
respect to his UFO days with a song that he wrote for
the No Heavy Petting album called “Highway Lady.”
This is a good one for the music nerd who thought he
had heard it all. Well, you haven’t and you better
snatch this one up quickly and turn it up loud. While
this won’t set the world on fire it is a good collection
of tunes that deserves more respect than it got the
first go round.
