ISSA – The Storm

Rating: C
Issa is a Norwegian bombshell that has released her sophomore
effort, The Storm. The music is filled with tons of pop hooks
and melodies. Issa is part diva, part pop star and has the
capacity to rock. The new music appears to be an attempt to
market her to the masses, and, if she becomes the flavor of the
month, then she could find herself with worldwide success.
While her debut album was much more heavier than this one,
“You’re Making Me” and “Take a Stand” do have a rock edge. “Too
Late For Love,” “We’re on Fire” and “Two Hearts” are all very
pop oriented.
While Issa is a great vocalist, the music is a tad soft and
mushy for this writer. The album seems more of a calling card
than a musical statement. Issa comes across more like a product
than a musician. Unfortunately, in this day and age, that is
what it takes to make a splash.
Fans of everyone from Celine Dion to Avril Levigne will enjoy
this one, however, I just wish it had more substance and less
fluff.
