Jeff Healey was a true original man and musician. The
blind guitar player invented a unique playing style and
added his soulful voice to the mix. He found fame when
he appeared in the movie Roadhouse, which featured his
biggest hit “Angel Eyes.” He was, however, much more
than a one hit wonder. Jeff played a unique blend of
blues and rock that made him a favorite in the genre.
Among his fans was none other than Stevie Ray Vaughan.
When we lost Jeff to cancer it was a huge loss for the
musical community.
In 2000, Get Me Some was released
internationally but the album never saw the light of day
in the United States. The musical landscape was just too
dry for Jeff’s blend of soulful blues and heartfelt
ballads. This album also marked Healey’s departure from
blues and rock as he spent the last years of his life in
the realm of jazz music.
It is a nice touch by Eagle Rock Entertainment to
allow this to finally be released where Healey fans can
have easy access to one of the most unique players in
the history of the blues.
