By 1979, Johnny Winter was a thirty-five year old
internationally famous guitar slinger from Texas. On this night,
instead of bashing out the rock standards he was famous for, he
opted to play a set of true blues music, the music that was most
dear to his heart and a part of his very soul. We are talking
classic blues including “Hideaway,” “Messin’ with the Kid,”
“Waking By Myself,” “I’m Ready,” “Divin Duck” and “Rockability
Boogie.”
Winter tears up the blues as only a true bluesman can as the
German audience is shell shocked by the guitarist’s virtuosity.
Live at Rockpalast is sold separately as a DVD and a CD.
Both products should be purchased as after watching Winter cast
his spell over an audience one will be subject to yearnings to
hear this music time and time again, whether it be from the car
or the television set.
The concert was broadcast to millions around Europe back in
’79 and now, thanks to MVD, this one can be enjoyed by Johnny
Winter fans around the globe.
