Roxx Gang – Box of Roxx

The Roxx Gang were a mix of hard rock, blues, glam
and punk and their debut album showed great promise by
shifting a quarter of a million copies in the mid
1980’s. The bands’ sound was not typical and this led to
both their success and their downfall. The guitar sounds
were slick, groovy and crunchy but the vocals were a bit
of downer and, while unique, did not help the band in
the long run.
They were a powerhouse live and their shows are still
talked about today. The box set’s second disc contains a
never before released concert from 1989 that shows the
band had the goods to deliver big but just didn’t have
the media bandwagon push from their record company. Disc
one feature unreleased demos and recording that, once
again, show a band that were attempting to forge their
own sound. The third component of the box is a DVD that
shows all of their videos, even the uncensored ones!
Roxx Gang is a must-own for fans of the band and the
time period, as FNA Records did an amazing job
presenting the sights and sounds. This is a historic box
set that will please those who dig this bands’ style of
music. That said, like strong coffee there is a bit of
an acquired taste to Roxx. Either you dig it or you
don’t.
