On April 19th Steve Miller will release
the second in a series of albums featuring remakes of
old blues standards. The first release, Bingo,
went to the top of the Blues charts and there is no
reason to think that Let Your Hair Down won’t
follow in its predecessor’s footsteps.
The cover art for both albums was created by the
famous Storm Thorgerson and sets the tone for the fun to
follow. “Snatch It Back and Hold It” starts the album
off with a swinging, bluesy rhythm that gets one in the
mood for the blues. “Close Together,” “Sweet Home
Chicago” and “Love the Life I Live” are all recreated
and handled with care by Miller. The tune, while bluesy
in nature, all have that famous Steve Miller vibe. “No
More Doggin’” is a great song that would have fit in to
the track list of Street of Dreams.
The album also features the final recorded notes by
Miller’s longtime sidekick and friend, Norton Buffalo,
who sadly passed away.
