Sweet was one of the most popular bands for a stretch
in the 1970’s. They played fun, party time rock n’ roll.
The song “Ballroom Blitz” has cemented their place in
music history. The band, now featuring only one original
member, Steve Priest, the bass player, is more of a tribute
band then the actual band Sweet. They are, however, a
damn good band and are able to recreate the sounds and
rock out the songs with a similar style and feel to the
original. Guitarist Stewart Smith has fun with the pop
oriented rock and the rest of the group follows along.
One has the feeling that there is a lot of smiles in
the crowd when Sweet plays live, as the band deliver
hits. “Action,” “Fox on the Run,” “Love is Like Oxygen,”
“Little Willy,” “A.C.D.C.” and “Ballroom Blitz” are all
included as are other fan favorites including “Wig Wam
Bam” and “Hell Raiser.”
While this is not THE Sweet that we grew up with, you
do get the founding bass player, a bunch of talented
musicians and a collection of great tunes that will have
you cranking this CD up loud in no time.
