Kimball Jamison – Kimball Jamison
Frontiers Records
www.frontiers.it
Rating: B
Two of the most famous, and unique, voices of melodic
rock have teamed up to release an album dripping of feel
good rockers, with huge harmonies. There are some
ballads thrown in for good measure and tons, and we mean
tons, of vocal calisthenics.
Bobby Kimball, from Toto, has lent his voice to such
classics as “Hold the Line” and “Rosanna” while Jimi
Jamison, from Survivor, is best known for the tracks “I
Can’t Hold Back” and “High On You.” The two men are
friends and have performed together for many years as
part of the Voices of Classic Rock and Legends of Rock
tours. This album, however, is not planned as a one-off,
as both Kimball and Jamison would love to repeat the
success found on their debut duets album.
There is not a bad song on the album, however, with this
style of music there is not a lot of difference in them
either. Fans of the genre will drool over how well this
music is performed and recorded, as it sounds great.
Both men still have their chops, Kimball more powerful
and emotive, and Jamison more smoky and soulful.
Fans of Toto and Survivor will snap this one up and love
every minute of it. In a day and age when many
performers take the quick money and release music that
does not live up to their past offerings it is wonderful
to see two legendary singers giving it their all and
still performing at the top of their game.
Light the candles, get a bottle of wine and cuddle up
with the little lady to this one, as it’s sure to do the
trick, if you know what I mean.
