Royal Blood – Thanks Seattle For Killing My Band and
My Dreams

Royal Blood had their debut album in the can and were
holding it back and letting the offers pile up as they
were poised to be the next big thing in the world of
hard rock. Led by bass player Rocky Newton, of MSG fame,
and guitar wizard Alex Masi, the band seemed to have the
world of rock eating out of their hand. They were going
to cherry pick the best contract they could get and be
internationally famous rock stars.
In Seattle, however, bands like Pearl Jam and Nirvana
were ready to breakout and usher in the world of Grunge,
essentially emptying the last puff from that can of Aqua
Net called Hair Metal. A true victim of the changing
times, Royal Blood went from the next big thing to
yesterday’s news literally overnight and the album, once
touted, would stay in the can unreleased.
FNA Records has brought the music back to life and it
is truly a gem. The music is of the ilk of ‘80’s Hair
Bands but done so with a ton more talent than your
average Sunset Strip band. These guys were good and the
guitar playing alone, from Masi, makes this one worth
checking out.
One listen to this disc and it really does show that
Royal Blood would have taken the world of rock by storm
if not for some complaining misfit youths from Seattle.
It’s a shame that they were forgotten about, yet it is a
testament to the dedication that FNA Records has for the
music they feel passionate about.
Check this band out as you will be impressed.
