Joe Satriani – Live in Paris: I Just Wanna Rock
Epic
www.satriani.com

Rating: B+

Satch is enjoying the success of being the guitarist in Chickenfoot and at the same time keeping his solo career alive and well.  Live In Paris, released as a CD and DVD (sold separately) sees the baldheaded rocker strutting his stuff as only he can do.

“I Just Wanna Rock” starts it off with a bang as the band proceed to rock your balls off.  “Satch Boogie” and “Flying in a Blue Dream” are both executed well while “One Big Rush” and “Out of the Sunrise” drops jaws of all musicians who take time to listen or watch this one.  And this is only the first disc!

Disc Two starts off with “Time Machine” and then gets it going on with “Mystical Potato Head Groove Thing.”  The back-to-back performances of “Always With Me, Always With You” and “Surfing With The Alien” keep the amazing musicianship at the forefront.  “Crowd Chant” is a cool way to interact with the audience and “Summer Song” is a great way to end the show.  The DVD also includes a mini-documentary and gives the listener the opportunity to have another sense blown away by Mr. Satriani’s talent.

This one rocks from beginning to end and I recommend you pony up the bucks and get the CD and the DVD – one for the home and one for the car.
