Jimmy Kunes – Gate of All Saints

Jimmy Kunes is the guitar player in Cactus and also has spent time playing with Savoy Brown and other bands.  Gate Of All Saints is a six song EP that showcases Kunes guitar skills as well as his amazing voice.  His smoky, raspy vocals bring emotion to every song, perhaps none as much as the melancholy “Once In A Lifetime.”

The title track is the only real rocker but it is a damn good one.  In fact, if nothing else one must go to his MySpace page and check out “Gate Of All Saints” as this song will find its way onto your iPod in no time. 

“Every Time Down The Line” is an acoustic based rock tune.  This writer expected a guitar-fest but instead it is Kunes songwriting and vocals that are most impressive.  This is worth checking out if you are looking for something not found on Classic Rock radio and that is not the flavor of the month.  A nice all around effort.
