Wildestarr – Arrival
Furnace Maximus
www.wildestarr.com

Rating: B

Wildestarr is the culmination of heavy metal, multi-instrumentalist Dave Starr and vocalist London Wilde.  Starr is a long time veteran who has recorded with Brad Gillis among others.  London is a session vocalist who has found her calling in this band.  Her amazing vocals soar throughout the blazing guitar styling of Starr.  She invokes the sound and style of Rob Halford and Geoff Tate with ease.  She comes across as a wicked, power metal bitch who you don’t want to mess with for fear of her putting a spell on you, or worse yet, kicking your ass in front of your friends.

This is a damn good metal band with the songwriting to back up their chops.  “Arrival” is a meltdown of guitar riffs while “Voice in the Silence” is, plain and simple, a giant of a song.  This is power metal at its best.  “Rose in the Dark” shows off London’s female version of Ronnie James Dio – this is one talented lady.  Starr, who for 22 years played bass in Vicious Rumors, shows that he should have been the guitar player.

This is a literal storm of powerful chops, blazing leads and vocals that soar to the heights of heaven and the depths of hell.  This is a band worth checking out.
