Rating: B

The old hippie, Commander Cody, is still out there thrilling crowds with his unique brand of rock and roll.  Always delivered with a wink and a smile, Cody has lasted nearly 50 years making rock fans both dance and laugh.

It is a testament to his love of music that he delivers these songs, which he has performed ad nauseam with such enthusiasm and energy.  He is still digging the tunes and the lifestyle he chose as a young man. His love of his music comes across loud and clear in the songs performed at this concert.

This is rock and roll that is meant to be fun and put people in a good mood.  Of course, the album includes “Hot Rod Lincoln” but also “Riot in Cell Block #9,” “House of Blue Lights” and “Lost in the Ozone Again.”  There is not a dull moment from start to finish.

The concert was recorded live in Cody’s hometown of Bayshore, Long Island, New York, adding to the energy.  The band is Commander Cody (vocals, piano); Mark Emerick (vocals, guitar); Professor Louie (vocals, accordion, organ); Steve Barbuto (vocals, drums); Miss Marie (vocals, percussion); Randy Bramwell (vocals).
