Tom Keifer = The Way Life Goes

Rating: B+

Cinderella’s Tom Keifer began his solo album in the 1990’s.  On April 30, 2013 he will finally release it.  I guess, as the title says, that is the way life goes!  While he was in no real hurry to finish this sucker, his fans will be thrilled that he finally did, as this is a melodic rocker that ranges from heavy to sublime, soft to hard.

Keifer is a great songwriter and while it is hard to get the Cinderella out his DNA, The Way Life Goes shows he has more going on as a composer than songs like his classic “Nobody’s Fool.”

“Ask Me Yesterday” and “Thick and Thin” are both pretty songs that really show Tom’s emotional side.  “Solid Ground” and “Fools Paradise” prove his can still rock with the best of them while “Ain’t That a Bitch” is just a damn fine song.  The title track sees Keifer letting out his inner Aerosmith.

There are no clunkers on this sucker.  This is a great rock and roll album worth owning.  The songs get better every time you play them and the album has that addictive quality that makes you keep coming back to it.

Maybe if Tom has some success with The Way Life Goes then he won’t wait a decade and half to do another solo album, or, dare I say it…a Cinderella album.
