Rating: C

Deborah Bonham is best known as the sister of Led Zeppelin drummer John Bonham.  Yet, she is also a very talented person in her own right.  She is a soulful singer and has even come to the attention of some pretty famous singers, including Robert Plant and Paul Rodgers.

Bonham does not seem worried about living up to her family name.  In fact, she is quite comfortable just doing what she does and spreading the joy of her music to anyone who will take the time to listen.

The song “Fly’ is a perfect example of what Deborah brings to the table.  The song features cello and mandolin and allows her vocals to soar to the heavens.  “Painbirds” is an emotional track, but it is “What It Feels” that will get most attention as Robert Plant adds some blues harmonica on the song.

Bonham has released a fine album.  Not too bluesy, not too rockin’, yet not too soft.  While the music won’t break down any barriers or change the world, her voice is welcome and her songs well crafted.

While this is a good album, not a great one, one can’t deny that this lady can sing.
